Online crooks becoming more patient

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Internet criminals are being more patient and sophisticated in their methods, it has been claimed.

According to the latest research, those behind online acts such as email phishing and website hacking are taking new approaches.

A new report on the underground economy cited by Cnet found many perpetrators are now gaining access to business accounts online, but rather than exploiting the loopholes they find to the full extent, they are instead looking for specific pieces of information.

The study stated hackers are unearthing company payment-processing systems and ignoring other data found during an online scheme.

By gaining hold of these services an individual can ascertain whether credit card numbers in their possession are valid.

Meanwhile, a recent Sify.com Business Line report stated web-users should be wary of messages in their inboxes which claim to be from friends in distress and in need of money, as this could be an example of an email phising or spam attack.ADNFCR-1765-ID-18895191-ADNFCR
