Don't worry about network security: Nine-year-old Marko's got your back
Friday, January 22, 2010
Marko Calasan is a Macedonian IT whiz and systems administrator who remotely manages a network of computers owned by a nonprofit that helps connect people with disabilities. Not much of a story, except for the consideration of Calasan's age: He's nine years old.
Dubbed by many the "Mozart of computers," Calasan is an undeniable prodigy. He became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer at the age of six, and, CNET reports, recently made a presentation to the general manager of Microsoft Slovenia, Matej Potokar, about the challenges and benefits of Active Directory.
Part of Calasan's astonishing talent could be hereditary: Both of his parents are professional IT experts who run a computer school for children, according to the Times Online.
Marko also told CNET that he was working on a project to send high-definition TV signals over outdated network infrastructure, and the website says that a Macedonian TV company has granted him direct access to its network backbone to assist the project. He says that he hopes to debut the technology at the upcoming CeBIT trade show.
