Hacker gets 30 years for stealing data

A Turkish court has sentenced a Ukrainian man on charges of cybercrime for hacking into 12 of the country's banks.

Maksym Yastremskiy, 25, was sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Turkish court for the crimes and ordered to pay fines totaling $23,200 for unauthorized access to computer systems and fraud. He has been held in Turkey since he was arrested in July 2007 while on vacation.

Yastremskiy faces charges in the U.S. for hacking into the wireless network of multiple discount retailers, according to the article. The suspect, along with 10 others, allegedly hacked into the wireless networks of nine discount retailers that resulted in the theft of more than 45 million credit card and debit card numbers. Afterwards, Yastremskiy reportedly sold the information on the internet.

The stores that were compromised included TJX, BJ's Wholesale Club, OfficeMax, Boston Market, Barnes & Noble and DSW.
U.S. authorities have made a formal request for the suspect's extradition pending the resolution of the Turkish charges, according to the article.

Yastremskiy and two others also face additional charges in New York for hacking the network security of Dave & Buster's restaurant chain to allegedly steal credit card information from at least 11 locations.ADNFCR-1765-ID-18965624-ADNFCR
